“If you want a guy able to fight a demon..well you gotta look for Jack Bauer,Jack Bauer (from “24″ series) is taking a well deserved break from CTU, so he gets a job as a night guard in a burnt out department store.LOL just kidding.”

hmm….

Have you seen the ring? the eye? now… “mirrors” ….many people say that this movie just another remake of asian horror movie. but the fun thing they always get many idea where the ghost come from to hunt us….maybe next time they will come up from spoon or fork hahahaha….just a suggestion if any producer dont have any idea.

i decided to see the movie because i like Kiefer Sutherland AKA Jack Bauer.

This movie not too bad but not that good too, so This is what happens when “Saw” meets “The Ring” meets “The Eye” meets “Pulse”.hahaha

Babylon A.D.

Sep 20, 2008 in Movie

babylon ad Release Date : 29 August 2008 ( USA ),  3 September 2008 (Indonesia)

Director : Mathieu Kassovitz

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 7/10

I enjoyed the movie. The locations were visually interesting. I liked the camera work. There was a lot of action, but everything happened so fast it was hard to follow the action scenes. Vin Diesel is interesting and entertaining to watch, and if you enjoy his movies, then you will like this one.

If you don’t pay attention, you will hate this movie. It moves fairly quickly, so once you miss something, it’s gone and you will be lost. So pay attention. The story is actually pretty good and actually feels down to earth, which is more than I can say about quite a few sci-fi movies.

For the record, I went into this movie not expecting much more than average, and I was slightly surprised. If you go in expecting the next academy award winner, you will completely despise it. It is no Dark Knight, so don’t expect it to be. There’s not much there artistically, so, if you don’t like a movie simply trying to be entertaining for the sake of being entertaining, then you won’t like this one. All in all, it was a good watch, not entirely worth the price for a new movie.

HellBoy II

HellBoy

Release Date : 11 july 2008 ( USA ),  10 September 2008 (Indonesia)

Director : Guillermo del Toro

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 7/10 (i want to give 8….but…hmm)

I remember seeing the first one 4 years ago and being entertained by it, so when i watch the trailer I chose to see the sequel, Unfortunately, it turned out to be a little disappointment.

Scenes obviously ended to be followed with expected laughs from the audience but just weren’t always funny and the romantic subplots did seem to me to get quite annoying and generic and maybe wasted valuable screen time. The ending with the Golden Army from the title wasn’t realised to the extent it could’ve been and felt too easily over and done with.

Not as funny as it thinks it’s is, with a lot of one-liners not make me laughs nor getting a real emotional connection when main characters’ lives were in danger, it just felt like it could’ve been so much more. The climax too felt generic and resolved too conveniently and predictably and as aforementioned, the full power of the Golden Army felt on our world would’ve been cool to see, and it ended like a candle…. I don’t think it’s a better sequel.

The only redeeming value of this movie are the visually stunning graphics, very cool. and i still like some part of this movie but i was expecting more to this movie because I love the previous Hellboy.

Felon

Director : Ric Roman Waugh

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 8/10

I just walk to dvd rental a few week ago and find this out. and i think It’s really nice to stumble upon good movies when you don’t expect it. Nowadays, we are becoming more and more guided by the marketing that goes behind the movies, to realize when we actually go see them that we are often left unsatisfied.
i’ve seen many movies about prison, but this one, man, is really different in some way. the best part of the movie, yeah of course, is the brilliant acting by Stephen and Val as well as other characters, the desperation of humanity, the struggling of reality, the hope of life, are so impressive that it terrifies the audience about prison life. the direction is awesome too, the points of the movie emphasizing are not only on the surface of the prison life that everybody thinks, it digs much deeper inside of that–people’s emotion. Damn! this movie moves. but as i searched it on internet,it seems to be pretty low-profile.

All in all, it’s a good movie to watch. I recommend it.

The Mummy : Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

The Mummy

Release Date : 1 August 2008 ( USA and Indonesia)

Director : Rob Cohen

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 6/10

i was expecting more to this movie because I love the previous 2 movies!. well I did enjoy it but not as much as the previous 2.it becomes clear that it was the incredible CGI effects that pretty becomes the whole movie, because the acting falls on a dead plate. Unbelievable, I just wanted to get up and leave the theater. Bad Acting to Some Acting and then No Acting pretty much sums up this movie. It would have been fun to have the budget they had spent on this movie and put it towards something more entertaining. Stock up on Popcorn, Candy & Drinks to help you make it through the movie. This is one movie that you don’t have to worry about missing anything important just because you have to take a bathroom break. The nice thing about it is that you can take a break anywhere during the movie and not miss anything.

The mummy storyline has now been repeated again in this film (Some idiot opens the tomb, the mummy comes back to life and wants to take over the world, and the good guys stop it and save the day).

Meet Dave

Meet Dave

Release Date : 11 July 2008 ( USA and Indonesia )

Director : Brian Robbins

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 6,5/10

Went to see Meet Dave with no expectations at all.The reviews I read already told me that it was a below average movie but it was an Eddie Murphy movie, one of my favorite actors, and I give it a chance and to be honest, I had fun with it. It isn’t the greatest comedy or less but it has some funny moments, the visual effects are kinda cool and the story looked interesting. The plot about a man that emerge from a fireball from outer space, turns to be a spaceship with hundreds of little people trying to save their planet was at least decent. It has nice landscapes with locations all around New York City. The cast is mainly from barely known actors with the exception of Eddie Murphy whose performance is worthy just because of all his gestures. Elizabeth Banks was okay and Pat Kilbane as a gay alien was a little overacted but hilarious. My conclusion is that if you wanna go and see this movie, go with your brain disconnected and enjoy

WALL-E

Aug 31, 2008 in Movie

Wall ERelease Date : 27 June 2008 (USA),13 August 2008 (Indonesia)

Director : Andrew Stanton

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 7,5/10

“WALL·E” is everything we’ve come to expect from Pixar and more- colorful, vibrant, imaginative, exciting, involving, beautiful, and most importantly a film with interesting, involving characters. Sure, WALL·E is adorable, and as much credit as the animators get for that, this film would be nothing without Stanton’s screenplay, which features very little dialogue but is still notably intelligent and surprisingly subtle, making a refreshing change from the ‘go green’ campaigns we’re all so used to. Does “WALL·E” have a message? Sure, but it’s an important message and it is delivered subtly and beautifully.

The movie Wall-E is a touching work of science fiction that manages to bridge the gap between child and adult.Bringing into perspective moral conflicts of consumerism and big business, the film displays an ominous conclusion for the Earth we live in today. All this stands in stark contrast to the robot himself, who demonstrates a loving personality and emotions such as curiosity, empathy, and loneliness. It is hard not to be drawn in to Wall-E’s charm.

Definitely recommended for young and old alike fast-food culture, and our increasing dependence on technology. LOL :P

Red Cliff

Sorry i cant get it yetRelease Date : 15 July 2008 (Indonesia)

Director : John Woo

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 6/10

*** This comment may contain spoilers ***

i was expecting more when i watch this movie. To me, this movie is a big over-hype disappointment! Romance of Three Kingdoms is such great story based on history.

There were some pacing problems in this movie :

1. The part of Zhou Yu and Zhu-Ge Liang playing musical instrument and the final battle scene was also overly long.It just go on and on, and I was really bored!
2.Action choreography was boring, and stupid sometime! Action choreographer Corey Yuen seem not sure whether to design it as fantasy martial art form or realistic martial art form, and some scene is just ridiculous!
3.the scenes with the shields reflecting sunlight The shields are a clever move, but you don’t have to basically repeat 2 shots (soldiers turning their shield, the horses go wild) twenty times.
4.little annoyed with the final fight sequence.when cao cao’s cavaliers trapped in the Formation of Eight Trigrams. what is the point to make a battle sequence like 20 minutes long which is not even a main event in the whole battle, with so many soldiers doing the same moves again and again.and make it unrealistic as well as too long

It’s a great story, well chosen characters — most of the actors/actresses suit the characters of each role. Maybe Woo can pay more attention to the war scenes for the next episode!!!

You Don’t Mess with the Zohan

Aug 16, 2008 in Movie

ZohanRelease Date : 6 june 2008 (USA), 6 August 2008 (Indonesia)

Director : Dennis Dugan

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 7,5/10

I knew that this was going to be crazy. And sure enough, it was. But you know what, I liked it, my friend liked it, it was a good time i had. I wanted to laugh, and this movie did just that for me and more! Being from Israel, I found his jokes funny and very witty. I don’t know if none-Israeli’s would find half the jokes funny though.

The movie is very creative. The plot itself is magnificent and priceless. and What I loved about this movie, was that the jokes never stopped coming. I’ve watched many of Sandlers movies, many of them have long breaks of nothing much to get in stitches about.

Adam Sandler he loves to put himself in ridiculous situations. This is an Adam Sandler movie and we all know what he’s like and what type of humor we’re going to expect…..and this movie is no different.

If you want to spend an hour or two snickering and have an open mind, give Zohan a shot. Don’t expect an evolution of comedy. Don’t expect the bar to be raised, because that’s not what this film was trying to do. It was trying to be ridiculous and make people utter that ever so fantastic groaning-giggle followed by the heart chuckle.

Made Of Honor

Made Of Honor

Release Date : 2 May 2008 (USA), 5 June 2008 (Indonesia)

Director : Paul Weiland

My Comment :

i’d give the movie 6,5/10

I wasn’t expecting much from it, it just looked like another rip off of a hundred other romantic comedies. but I actually really liked the entire way through and it kept my interest the whole time! Although I enjoyed the movie and i realise this movie little cliché.

The plot has already been seen plenty of times and will continue to be seen plenty of more times, but that doesn’t really matter does it? It’s the classic story of one person figuring he’s in love with someone and then desperately trying to “get” his love before it’s too late. Once again in these types of movies, it isn’t the story that’s important, it’s the execution.
